Actor and IPL team owner Preity Zinta recently addressed criticism she has been facing online regarding her personal and religious choices, particularly around raising her children as Hindus. During an interactive session on X, the Kal Ho Naa Ho actor responded to a fan’s query that suggested her recent posts seemed politically inclined.

Refuting the assumption, Preity clarified that her visits to temples or attending spiritual gatherings like the Maha Kumbh are part of her personal journey, not political affiliations. “That’s the problem with people on social media, everybody has become so judgemental off late,” she said. Adding, “Going to a temple or the Maha Kumbh and being proud of who I am and my identity does not equate with me joining politics or BJP.”

Preity, who lives in the US with her husband Gene Goodenough and their twins Jai and Gia, also shared how living abroad has deepened her appreciation for India and its cultural values. “Living outside India has made me realise the true value of my home country,” she said.

The conversation took a more personal turn when she opened up about raising her children. She stated, “After becoming a mom & living in a foreign country, I wanna make sure my kids don’t forget they are half Indian. Since my husband is agnostic, we are bringing up our kids as Hindus.”

However, she expressed disappointment over how even this personal decision has attracted criticism. She wrapped up by saying, “Sadly, I am facing constant criticism & this simple joy is being taken away by my choice being politicized all the time. I feel I need to keep answering for being who I am or having pride in teaching my kids about their roots & religion.”
